Peter and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary in February. 7 years, that is such a great milestone to be celebrated. But it’s one thing to be married and another to be happily married, I’m glad that I’m part of the later one.

Every year we try to make it special by spending alone and uninterrupted time together, so we either travel as a couple or just arrange a trip out-of-town. As much as we love spending time with our Little Munchkins, we know we also need to spend alone time to bond as a couple.

This year, we’ve managed to get some of our friends help us out with the kids, we had home security, drop off and pick up transpo from school, fun itineraries for the kids to enjoy, we had everything covered for our 5 days / 4 nights downtime!

We initially thought of doing a long drive to Oman but we felt that 5-6 hours of drive would tire us out, plus we wanted to stay close by so we can easily drive home, incase something needs to be attended to for the kids. So we opted to go to Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah instead.

After few email communication with the Rotana reservations, we were set off to our stay for 3day/2nights and here’s our experience and tips or Ultimate Guide to maximizing your stay at The Cove Rotana Resort!Cove2

The first impression that I had as soon as I stepped into the resort was that it had this unique Mediterranean vibe, it felt as though I was in another country, somewhere in Italy it reminded me of our trip last year in the small town in Amalfi Coast (Sorrento) or Greece (well I haven’t been to Greece, but I’ve seen some pictures). I immediately fell in love with the resort even though I was just at the entrance, the view, the hospitality and the way they welcomed us was just so warm.

We booked a Deluxe room, but when we checked in we were told that we have been upgraded to a Villa! Surprise surprise, lovely way to kick-start the stay!

Not knowing what to expect, we entered and learned we had our dedicated living area, kitchen, dining table and of course the beautiful room. The room is well decorated and very comfortable with warm feel of home. The toilet had no tub but it was clean. We had an amazing view of the beach, and had birds chirping in the morning, very relaxing.

When we got in our villa cake, sparkling champagne & fruit basket welcomed us! So sweet!

2Even more surprised when we learned that this 1 bedroom Villa had an exclusive pool overlooking the peaceful beach! We can lounge anytime we want with a comfort and privacy of our own villa. However, we were not able to use the pool to swim in February since it’s cold and the pool is not temperature controlled.8DSCF4137

On our first night, we went to Cinnamon Restaurant, which is the all day dining restaurant in the resort. They served delectable International cuisine. I love the outdoor terrace that overlooks the beach.

This is also the place where we had sumptuous breakfast everyday

On our last night stay, we headed to Basilico the Mediterranean restaurant of the resort. I think this was our favourite of all 3 restaurants where we dine in. I love the set menu!

Swimming Pool

There are 2 pools to enjoy, the 1st one in the picture is temperature controlled but it gets a bit crowded. The 2nd pool in the picture is a bit quiet but it’s not temperature controlled, so when the weather is cold so is the pool. If you want total privacy and are booking in the summer months (May to September), I would recommend booking a villa with a pool, absolutely worth it!DSCF4252DSCF4494

One of the great things about this hotel was also the pristine beach, I love doing afternoon walks with Peter around this area. It’s more than half a kilometer stretch so the walk can be incorporated in to your daily exercise.DSCF4138

Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club / Spa

This facility includes jacuzzi, steam, sauna, 7 massage rooms, fully equipped gymnasium, fitness classes, cardiovascular and weight training.

We have experienced the Swedish massage that includes long, relaxing strokes, kneading, and friction. This massage helps release the body of unwanted strain and stress. We felt rested and absolutely pampered that Peter wanted to book another session the following day!

You can also ask to do the spa / massage by the beach!DSCF4306DSCF45304

The customer service is still top-notch, really a great experience from the reservation, valet parking, reception, the guy who assisted us to our room, housekeeping, room service people, everyone is just trained to interact and give a good service to their customers. Housekeeping staff also knocked on your door in the afternoons to ask if we wanted our room done or we require more towels/toiletries; and this is an added touch.Cove1

In summary, it was a lovely stay we would have loved to extend our time but we were already missing our Little Munchkins, this is definitely highly recommended resort when vacationing in Ras Al Khaimah.
